Komodo Decks is a screen recorder and guide creation app loved by small businesses with collaborative teams. They were preparing to launch new features – a meeting recorder and AI Assistant. The launch would introduce a new offer and pricing model, so we got to work on a new product page and pricing page.

A New Product, a New Message

Komodo’s point of view is that you shouldn’t need multiple apps to make videos for async communication, record Zoom calls, create SOPs and guides, and use generative AI to help you make sense of all those recordings. 

So they expanded their features to include a meeting recorder that connects to your Google calendar (without a bot joining the call), and a built-in ChatGPT-like AI Assistant that’s an expert on your entire video repository.

A Brand-Spanking New Product Page

Komodo needed a new product page to showcase the AI meeting use case, features, and assistant.

As part of the project, I conducted voice-of-customer research, competitor analysis, and messaging audit.

We decided to position Komodo as a bit of a rebel against the swath of AI meeting recorders out there. Our research showed people don’t like “bots joining a call.” So we echoed this in our copy.

It was also exciting to talk about the new Komodo AI Assistant, which allows users to surface information and insights quickly from their vast library of recordings. No need to keep track of who said what on what call, video, or guide.

New Pricing, New Offer

A new, simpler pricing model was also in the works, so we took a completely different angle with the pricing page.

We decided to try a single pricing card where visitors get to toggle things on and off rather than compare multiple plans side by side.

The client and I also decided to strategically de-emphasize the free plan, since Komodo has strong word-of-mouth driving free plan signups.
